A French Experience

Primary Six thoroughly enjoyed their visit from Miss Smith of Stromness Academy when we, as part of our Europe topic, experienced some aspects of French culture. We started the day looking at where Miss Smith stayed in France.

Then we went on to learn what a typical french breakfast would consist of. We tried croissants, pain au chocolat, chocolat chaud and many other things!

Children in France also have to go to school, so we found out about what is different about their school day. We also listened to some french popular music and tried to work out what they were singing about: we did really well! Finally we looked at comics, which are a very popular hobby in France. We even had a go at writing our own!

Clearly enjoying the croissants!
Sharing the pain au chocolat equally using our knowledge of fractions!

  1. Thank you for being so enthusiastic Primary 6, Miss Smith and I really enjoyed being able to let you experience a little taste of French culture. I was also impressed with the quality of the questions being asked, all very sensible and interesting. Keep it up!
